Marcus Cook, the founder and director of MAJEK Automation, has been involved in the recycling industry for more than a decade. An Honours graduate in Physics from Melbourne University he knew there was great scope for improving the amount of recyclables recoverable from rubbish. In 2001 he set up MAJEK Automation and began designing systems that could deliver big results for low cost to the multi-billion dollar recycling industry. Marcus' focus is firmly on reducing the amount of rubbish that goes into landfill. His vision is global - to provide cost effective, efficient systems that will help save the planet by cutting garbage.

MAJEK Automation has been developing automation equipment for the recycling industry since 2001. We have developed equipment capable of sorting Polymers, Paper, Aluminium or any combination of the above. We are in the final stages of developing a Glass Sorter for the sorting of cullet to a minimum size of six by six millimetres.
All our sorters use a minimum of moving parts. The product is dropped through the machine of falls down a chute. The identification is done optically. The separation of either the good product, positive sort, or bad product, negative sort, is carried out in most cases through air ejection. The company has spent many years testing different pneumatic solenoids to find the few that have the speed to handle the millisecond ON / OFF times required as well as the robustness to handle one of the most punishing industrial environments.
In the process of researching and developing our recycling equipment MAJEK Automation has also developed several systems for other industries as off shoots from the main equipment. Foremost amongst these is the MAJEK Vision system. Using the camera and computers developed for the glass sorter and Wizard sorter MAJEK Automation has developed an Industrial camera system with infinite applications. The system is currently used by VIP Packaging to check plastic bottles for defects as they come from the moulding machine.
